Pallet Deliveries - Health & Safety Notice!
Pallets are delivered by specialised vehicles equiped with tail lifts. They do take more route planning than parcel delivery vehicles and do have a few restrictions. Where access is restricted please ask for a small (7.5 tonne vehicle) there is no extra charge for the smaller vehicle but it will only have a tail lift with a capacity of 1000 kgs. This means that unless you can help the driver to unload goods from the pallet in excess of 1000 kgs the you should only make an order for 1000kgs.
We use two companies for pallet deliveries:- Pallet Line and Palletways. Both offer an extremely realible service. Both make a small charge for timed deliveries of £10. The driver unloads via a tail lift and has a pump up pallet truck to move the pallet short distances on a hard level surface. Usually drivers are not allowed to move too far from the vicinity of the vehicle because of the security of the remaining goods on the vehicle. So please do not expect him to stack goods away for you. Delivery by pallet is astonishingly cheap per kilogramm compared with parcel rates but are not suitable for some sites where access is really restricted. Please be prepared to assist the driver if he has to unload a few bags by hand in order to reduce the pallet weight to suit his tail lift. Although this might seem daunting the reality is that we send out hundreds of pallets a month without incident. Please be aware that if you direct the vehicle off the highway that you are responsible for any damage caused. If it is not possible to be at home to accept delivery please either ask a neighbour to accept delivery on your behalf or ring us with your instructions where the pallet should be left. Because of the huge cost of running lorries re-deleveries are charged at £25 and pallets returned to our depot charged at £50 each way. Cumbria Gardens & Pets Direct
